Are You Taking the June SAT or ACT?
We try to get all of our students done with the SAT or ACT by June of their junior year so that they can spend the summer thinking about college applications and enjoying their activities instead of training for standardized tests. After all, who wants to spend their summer studying for the SAT?
If you’re taking the June SAT, here are a few tips to keep in mind:
You’ve already done the work. If you’ve been studying for months and have already taken the test a few times, you’re a pro at this point. Allow the work you’ve done to guide you and trust that you know what you’re doing, especially on the easier problems. Don’t suddenly start overthinking them!
You can still take it again. Take the pressure off of yourself to have this be “the one”: you’ll perform better if you’re calm and relying on the skills and strategies you’ve learned. There are several more opportunities to take it in if you don’t get the score you want.
Take a break for a month or two. If you want to take the test again in the fall, that’s great! But we do recommend you give yourself at least a few weeks off. Between the SAT/ACT, AP/IB exams, and finals, all of our students need a break! Don’t worry: you can brush up before you take the test again, and we recommend jumping back into coaching sessions 3-6 weeks before your next exam date. And if you do decide to take it in the fall, try to knock it out in August instead of October so that you’re not too stressed with your college applications!
If you want help studying or have a few types of problems that always get you, send us an email at info@kingfisherprep.com and one of our experts can teach you how to never miss that problem type again. Good luck on the test!
